What are PAR and PPFD in LED grow lights

One way to visualize PPFD is to imagine that the sun is “pouring” light onto plant leaves. As the sun shines light on plants, their leaves are gathering energy. 

PPFD is a measurement of the amount of light (photons) that the sun “pours” onto plants over time. PPFD is an important indicator because it helps growers accurately measure the light intensity of photosynthesis in the canopy. This is also important because lights that are too close to the canopy can cause burning, bleaching, growth retardation, or discoloration.
